Neighborhood Partnership Program Award

On November 15, 2019, MWCDC and our partner, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC), received a Neighborhood Partnership Award (NPP) of $100,000 per year (for six years) through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), which is a local economic development initiative coordinated by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. NPP is a public/private tax credit program, and UPMC Health Plan is MWCDC/PPC’s corporate partner.

Some of MWCDC’s tasks under this project include implementing new affordable housing development programs, a masonry and heavy landscaping workforce development program and an expanded residential and business Curb Appeal Program (building on MWCDC’s successful Front Door Program of 2018-2019). MWCDC also will provide or coordinate home renovation and repair technical assistance, continue to assess neighborhood housing needs, and address neighborhood safety best practices. MWCDC will coordinate with PPC to improve and promote Emerald View Park, and MWCDC will assist PPC during development of the new Emerald View Park Master Plan.
